In the Unified Interface form, the lookup field shows up the recently searched records as shown in the below screen-shot.
It is a very useful feature. But in some scenarios, it conflicts with the implemented functionality.
For example, If you have applied a custom filter logic to the Contact Lookup field on the Case entity in a way that it shows up only the customer-related active records. But, as the Lookup shows up the recently searched records as well apart from the filtered records, the user would select an invalid record from the “Recent Search” list instead of the record from the applied custom filter.
Microsoft has given an out-of-the-box property to disable the feature of showing up the recently searched records in the Lookup field of Unified Interface form, which is as follows:-
Disable most recently used items for this field:-
By default this check-box is un-selected. Because of this, the recent searched records are displayed in the Lookup field of the Unified Interface form.
So, you simply select the Disable most recently used items for this field checkbox of the particular Lookup field properties to stop showing up the recently searched records in that Lookup.
I hope this helps you!!
