Outlook integration, setting up reports layout and embedding Power BI reports in Business Central

The Client 

Based in South Africa, our client required the integration of various functionalities in Microsoft Dynamics Business Central Online. 

 

The Challenge 

The client needed to: 

  • Create customized report layouts 
  • Set up price groups for different clients with varying pricing tiers 
  • Sync Outlook with Business Central 
  • Embed Power BI reports in Business Central 

 

The Solution 

Our team delivered a comprehensive solution to address these needs: 

Customized Report Layouts: 

  • Created custom report layouts for sales orders, quotes, and purchase orders. 
  • Exported and imported these custom layouts into Business Central to meet the client's reporting requirements. 

Price Group Setup: 

  • Set up different price groups to facilitate various pricing strategies for different client segments: 
  • Grouped wholesale customers together and assigned wholesale prices. 
  • Grouped special customers together and provided special discounts on different products. 
  • Assigned normal unit prices to the remaining customers. 
  • Implemented the process by setting up Customer Price Groups and assigning them to customers in the Customer Card. 

Outlook and Business Central Sync: 

  • Configured the client's mailbox with Business Central, enabling seamless email synchronization with Outlook. 

Embedding Power BI Reports: 

  • Created reports in Power BI connected to Dynamics 365 Business Central. 
  • Published the Power BI reports in the Power BI workspace. 
  • Integrated the Power BI reports into Business Central, allowing for enhanced data visualization and analysis directly within the platform. 

 

Other Features 

  • Provided training and support for the client’s staff to ensure effective use of the new functionalities. 
  • Enhanced the user interface to align with the client’s branding and operational requirements. 
  • Implemented workflow automation for improved efficiency in business processes.
